What Is Innovative Community Participation?
Innovative Community Participation is NDIS-funded support that helps people with disability build skills and take part in community, social and recreational life. It focuses on more than just attending an activity. The aim is to help you build confidence, develop practical skills and form lasting connections.
Support can be one-to-one or in a small group, and it is shaped around your interests, abilities and goals. At Superior Quality Care, we make these opportunities practical and accessible, so you feel supported to try new things without pressure.
Activities and Programs We Support
Every participant's plan looks different. Activities we can support include:

Volunteering is a great way to contribute, meet people and build confidence. We can support you to find a volunteering opportunity that suits your interests and to settle in.
Pathways Towards Training and Work
For participants who are interested, we can support you to build skills that may help with training or work, such as communication, teamwork, routines and confidence. This is not a job placement service.
Benefits of Community Participation
Social Connection and Friendships
Spending time with others helps you build friendships and a sense of belonging. Regular activities with people who share your interests can reduce loneliness and help you feel part of something.
Wellbeing and Confidence
Trying new things, and succeeding at them, builds self-esteem and a stronger sense of identity and purpose. Being active in the community is also linked to better mental wellbeing.
New Skills and Independence
Practising skills in real settings, such as shopping, catching transport or joining a group, helps you do more for yourself. Over time, many participants feel more confident making choices about their own lives.

How to Include Community Participation in Your NDIS Plan
If you are not sure how to include this support in your plan, our team can help you understand the process. Our guide to accessing disability support through the NDIS explains the basics.
Set Your Goals
Start with what matters to you: making friends, trying a new activity, building confidence, volunteering or learning a skill. Clear goals make it easier to explain why this support is useful for you.
Understand Your Funding
Community participation supports can be funded from different parts of a plan, depending on your goals and your plan. For example, from Core Supports (help with social and community participation) or Capacity Building (increasing social and community participation). Your NDIS plan, support coordinator or plan manager can confirm what applies to you. If you need help with this, our support coordination team can explain your options. We cannot guarantee funding, because the NDIS makes the final decision.
Match With Programs
Once you know your budget, we help you find activities and programs that fit your goals, location and schedule, and arrange who will support you.
Review and Adjust
Interests and needs change. We check in regularly on how things are going and adjust your support so it keeps working for you.
